The Greater Niagara Ballet Company will be performing Spring Ballet Expressions tonight at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2 and 7:30 at the Niagara University Clet Hall/Theater.

The show will feature "Peter & The Wolf", "Caught in Dance", "Pas de Quatre" and "Concerto" by Artistic Director Beverly A. Feder, FISTD, CUSA.

The party is fast approaching for the Town of Porter's 200th anniversary celebration.

The fun will take place on June 1 through 3 at Porter-On-The-Lake and includes all kind of good stuff, including music, food, a petting zoo, exhibits, and even a free breakfast on Sunday.

Ever hear of Pinterest? It's a fascinating way to collect your favorite images and ideas on boards. The boards become almost magazine-like collections. In other words, it's yet another social media way to waste more time. Trust me, I just love it. I really do. By the way, I'm Jude Caserta, so follow my boards if you would like. It's fun.

Anyway.

Thousands of people lined Third Street in the Falls on Thursday, watching as Nik Wallenda practiced for his upcoming wirewalk over Niagara Falls.

The practice run, as will be the case until his June 15th stunt makes international headlines, was free.

If State Assemblyman John Ceretto of Lewiston has his way, that's exactly how the actual event will play out as well.

Now, it looks like Perry Farrell and the boys are coming to Lewiston.

The show is slated for Aug. 20 and tickets go on sale for the event next Monday.

A man who swerved to avoid a number of deer in the road on Saunders Settlement Road this morning (Thursday) was sent to the hospital after he rolled his truck.

It happened around 4 a.m. just east of Wasik’s curve.

53-year-old Eugene Laubacker tried to miss four deer and went into the culvert and side swiped a tree before flipping the truck.

He was flown by Mercy Flight to ECMC with head and facial injuries.

New Yorkers appear to be split on the matter of allowing UFC and other mixed-martial arts fights to take place in the Empire State.

A new Siena College poll finds that 32 percent of respondents favor getting rid of the state ban on MMA contests, while 26 percent oppose eliminating the ban and 38 percent say they don't have enough information on the issue.

After 22 seasons as the head coach of the Niagara softball team, Al Dirschberger has retired from the position he held for so long on Wednesday.

"I want to thank so many people for affording me this opportunity," Dirschberger said. "I'd like to thank former Athletic Director Mike Jankowski for taking a chance on me. I can't say thank you enough to Father Levesque and Father Hubbert for all of their support during my stay at Niagara."

Police have now released the name of the Ransomville teen who was taken to the hospital and charged with DWI after a crash on Bear Ridge Road in the Town of Pendleton on Monday night.

17-year-old Zoe Manners was found in a ditch after she lost control of her vehicle, hitting some mailboxes, rammed into a parked truck and then tried to walk away.

It's official.

The campaign to get Lewiston crowned as the best for food in the Rand McNally/USA Today Best Small Towns in America has officially paid off.

Voting closed on the contest on Tuesday and Lewiston easily outdistanced the second-place finisher, Burnsville, Minn., by a count of 806-580.

Walla Walla, Wash., was third while Denton, Tex., placed fourth.

When she was working on election nights rather than hoping to get her name called, Dotty Riordan remembers times when only dozens of voters turned out in the Village of Youngstown.

She could've used a dozen votes on Tuesday night.

In a hotly contested race, interim mayor Raleigh Reynolds maintained the title he's held since former mayor Neil Riordan passed away, beating Riordan's widow by 10 votes.

Our friends at NiagaraHub.com captured some video of a fire in the Town of Niagara on what we believe is Mayle Court. Anyone commuting home below the falls from the Buffalo area was sure to spot the blaze during rush hour.

There's no word just yet on damages, but fire crews were working on the blaze around 4:30 p.m. This video was shot while passing on the I-190.

We'll have more information as it becomes available.

The polls will stay open until 9 p.m. tonight in the Village of Youngstown mayoral race, which pits Deputy Mayor Raleigh Reynolds and Dotty Riordan, the wife of former mayor Neil Riordan.

The two have battled in both primaries, with Reynolds getting the Democratic nod and Riordan taking the Republican line, even though she's a Democrat by nature.

Although there's no word that either David Truesdell or Walter Holmes will be stepping aside, longtime Niagara Falls Police Department Detective Pat Stack says he's planning on running for Town Justice in the Town of Porter this fall.

If he wins, he'll leave his job of 25 years on the force.
